frequently asked questions
What will the conference be like?
The format will be experiential, combining engaging shared experiences with facilitated discussion sessions around topics of mutual interest. By the end of the weekend, we hope everyone will leave having learnt new things and feeling energised to share this with their network, ultimately improving the quality of outdoor learning in Hong Kong.
Who is this conference suitable for?
Anyone with an interest in outdoor education in Hong Kong, both local and expatriate. So, providers, school leaders, practitioners and teachers. The intention is to attract as broad a representation of the local experiential education community as possible.
I can only come for one day. Is this OK?
Of course we'd love for you to join both days, but we understand that people have other important things on too. Tickets can be bought for individual days, with a discount available for early bird tickets and if you join the whole weekend.
Will food and drinks be provided?
A simple lunch and light refreshments, such as teas, coffee and snacks will be provided.
Where will it be? Is transport provided?
The conference will be held at the Breakthrough Youth Village close to Sha Tin. It easily accessible by public transport. From Sha Tin MTR, attendees can either take the 67K green minibus from Sha Tin MTR exit B (approx 15 mins) or take an urban red taxi to the venue (approx 15mins, $60HKD). Transport is not provided between the venue and main town, however we can help coordinate sharing taxis at the end of the day.
I'm coming from outside of Hong Kong. Where can I stay?
Simple, but comfortable accommodation is available at the venue for attendees travelling from further afield. Please contact Breakthrough Youth Village directly to organise and let us know if you run into any issues. Other hotels are also available in the Sha Tin or Kowloon area.
I'm an outdoor education provider. Will there be any exhibits or stalls for me to promote my courses?
No, there will be no direct sales or marketing opportunities at this conference. All parties are invited to attend on the premise of mutual collaboration, contribution, and learning.
Are early-bird tickets available?
Yes, but only before 1st August 2025. Members can enjoy early-bird prices throughout. Become a member now to enjoy the deal - click here. Last minute ticket prices will start from 1st November, so get your tickets early to enjoy the best rates.
I'd like to lead a session on a topic. How do I become a speaker?
Get in touch. We are looking for knowledgeable, inspiring speakers to lead engaging discussions on relevant topics. Our sessions are typically interactive, collaborative and experiential in nature - forget 'sage on the stage', "death-by-Powerpoint" style. The attendees should be part of the discussion.
