Why become badged?

The HKOLA Provider Badge provides a level of credibility and assurance to potential clients and partners.

By meeting the standards required for the badge, companies can demonstrate their commitment to high standards of safety, professionalism, and quality of instruction. This can help build trust and attract more customers.

Additionally, the pathway to badging often involves ongoing training and professional development, which can enhance the skills and knowledge of instructors and staff. This not only benefits the organisation but also ensures a better experience for participants.

Lastly, annual re-badging can help the organisation stay up-to-date with industry best practices, regulations, and safety guidelines. This is particularly important in the outdoor education sector, where the well-being and safety of participants are paramount.

Overall, becoming badged can be a valuable investment for outdoor education organisations, providing them with a competitive edge and peace of mind.

How do I become badged?

Organisational members (Level 2, 3 and Founder) can request the full standards and guidance notes, and apply for accreditation whenever they feel they are ready.  The inspector will support you through the process providing feedback and guidance along the way.

FAQ

What if we are unable to meet a set of standards yet?

If an organisation is unable to meet a set of standards they will be deferred on those specific standards. The inspector will provide feedback as to why the organisation did not meet the standard and guidance on what is needed to meet the standard. The applicant will be invited to submit further evidence to meet the deferred standard.

When and where can we display the badge?

Once passing, organisations with active memberships can display the badge on their own website. HKOLA will also list on their website which active members hold the badge.

Can I still display the badge if my membership has expired?

No. HKOLA asks that if your membership has expired that you not display the badge on your website or promotional material. If you have applied to renew membership or reassessment, then HKOLA allows a reasonable grace period.

I disagree with the results of my inspection report. What is the dispute procedure?

Raise your concerns with the inspector who will explain their decision. If you still feel it is unsatisfactory, the specific standard and evidence can be reviewed by the Board of Directors.

How will schools and potential clients be able to see that I hold the provider badge?

A list of all active badge holders will be displayed on the HKOLA website.
