They give us guidelines and requirements that we can all follow, ensuring that we're on the same page and maintaining consistency in our practices. By adopting these standards, we can create a safe and amazing experience for our participants.
Safety First: The top priority in outdoor education is always safety. International standards like the UIAA safety standards for mountaineering equipment, ISO 21101 for safety management systems, and BS8848 for overseas trips are here to help us out. They give us specific requirements and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure safe practices. Following these standards allows us to establish solid safety protocols, conduct thorough risk assessments, and continuously improve our safety management systems.
